JOIN THE REVOLUTION
The world changed for good when the Pilates mat sequence started to find a home in gyms, dance schools, suburban halls and luxurious health retreats. The proliferation of home workouts on VHS then DVD and finally the digital world saw people doing crunches, bicycles and even teasers and push ups. But … is it even Pilates? Well, that’s why we are here. We believe that if you are going to use the P-word ... it should in fact be heavily doused in the original work!
Being part of TMRACADEMY means that you are an agent of a positive change within the industry, equipping your clients with information and detail about the true method, just without the dogma and 'ivory tower' vibes of big-brand Pilates schools. Studying with us will give you the passport to work in any setting that you connect with, whether you have aspirations of being a group fitness teacher, working with a special population or seek to work in a variety of private pilates studios (not just white-reformer paradise). We are saddened to hear of graduates of other schools only being able to work in a very narrow application barely getting a few hours of work a week.
Study with us in a format that suits you; module by module with the most comprehensive approach to the method on the market. As a graduate, you will come to know the apparatus with confidence and eventually how each apparatus is interrelated beyond the exercises alone.
BRINGING YOU THE BEST
We teach you the original Mat (Return to Life) as made by Joseph Pilates. We go the extra mile to explain where some first generation teachers have embellished or made worthwhile modifications and how this deviates from Mr Pilates' work and in which situations this can be useful. This is truly where you can apply the real work to the general public without resorting to tricks and flips to keep them interested.
In addition to learning the impressive exercises we look deeper to the method, the meat and potatoes of it all. This is especially useful if you seek to be certified in more modes (Reformer, Cadillac, Chairs, Barrels etc.) because the Mat is truly the gateway, it establishes the movement vocabulary for the method and offers the mind a map for movement.
To make this top-line advanced material and meat and potatoes work to the people, we will digest the building blocks that our course director has put together based on his near 20 years in the industry. These are rooted in the principles of motor learning and will see your clients succeed.
OG Pilates + movement education + exercise science + common sense + a good time = TMRACADEMY

Professional excellence bonus: courses from our faculty
Non-specific low-back pain
Back pain is probably the most common reason people attend Pilates these days. But what is back pain and does the cause affect your programming?
To best understand it, our faculty member Susan Cottrell will review key anatomy knowledge and look at the body as a movement system.
This will remind you why Pilates is so fantastic for back pain and help you ‘sell’ your services to your prospective client.
Centering in Breath
THE BREATH – one of the guiding principles of Pilates – essential for life, and so much more than an oxygen delivery system. Yet our clients often get “caught up” up in the breath, holding and struggling to coordinate breath with movement. Although JHP said “above all, learn how to breathe correctly”, is there really a “Pilates breath”?
We asked our colleague Megan Steers to share her knowledge and holistic approach to teaching Pilates to every day people, one breath at a time!
Professional identity + wellbeing in the industry
The health and 'wellbeing' industry is not always healthy for instructors and teachers. Many of us have too many horror stories about workplace issues.
TMRACADEMY knows the power of working within your strategic values to empower a client community.
We have included this professional workshop with collaborator Kirsten Brown to boost your wellbeing, workplace satisfaction and professional longevity.
